Zacatlan!

Gary surprised me with a trip up to Zacatlan for Mother's Day weekend! It is a beautiful little town just north of Puebla. This is also one of the beautiful areas that Gary served in as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! He rented us this really nice cabin to stay in for the weekend! It was small, but we managed to well enough. Dogs were allowed so we brought Zoe and Penny with us. They were happy to come along, but it was hard to visit certain places with them around. When we left them in the cabin they would bark and howl and the owners complained so we had to take them everywhere we went. We decided it wasn't worth it to bring them and that the next time we would send them to the excellent doggy camp they have close to Mexico City.

Here is the beautiful Zocalo! its most famous feature is its flower clock, made by the workshops of León Olvera, founder of the Centenario Clock company. This clock has two faces, each of which is five meters in diameters.  It is unique in that it is the only double faced flower clock whose hands are

moved by a single mechanism.

For lunch we ate at a really nice place which I can't remember the name of, but they had local apple soda's that we tried. It was delicious! We took some home with us.

While waiting for our breakfast Aurora had fun interacting with the owners dog named Pelos which literally means "Hairs" which is quite appropriate I thought! He was super friendly. 

On our way to Tuliman Falls! Gary unfortunately lost his balance while walking down and hurt his ankle so the walk was a bit painful for him.

 The next Waterfall we visited was called Quetzalapan. We could of walked all of the way down to see the full extent of the Fall, but since Gary hurt himself we didn't make the trip.
