The embassy hosts a number of trips throughout the year so one of the trips we took was to Tepoztlan south of Mexico City. It’s known as the birthplace of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec feathered serpent god, and for its weekly craft market. A steep trail leads to the Aztec Tepoztlan pyramid, on a clifftop above the town
. We left the embassy early in the morning so we could get there early and climb up to the pyramid. It was a hike! It was steep and curvy at times. It's a beautiful climb, but rigorous. The pyramid is literally one one of the tall peaks so at the end of the hike you have to climb on stairs to get there. Once we reached the top there wasn't much left of the pyramid, but the view was amazing so it made it worth it. Here are some pictures of our adventure.
