Family Visit!

Gary's brother Scott and his family minus their two older girls came to visit us in the beginning of May. We first visited Xochimilco and took a boat ride down the canals. They had a blast.

We introduced them to an authentic Mexican restaurant called Arroyo. I wasn't feeling to well, so I didn't eat much, but everyone raved about the delicious food.

Xochimilco!

Aurora interested in all the sights and sounds.

Of course we had to have a couple of songs from a Mariachi band come sing for us so they could get the full experience!

After Xochimilco we went to the artisan market called Ciudadela that we love to explore. While we were here it started to rain/hail hard so it made for a very interesting trip. Thankfully they didn't mind and enjoyed every minute of it.
Our next trip was to Teotihuacan. It was sunny and bright, but we came early in the morning before it got too hot.

Somebody was cranky and hungry!

We thought that we had explored everything when we had come here before, but we missed this underground area where painting's/Murals still exist. It was very cool.

Beautiful cravings!

We of course had to take them to the La Gruta restaurant for lunch.

A beautiful flower I found on our way to see more pyramids.

Unfortunately during their visit everyone got sick. I think it was some kind of stomach bug. I've never felt so miserable in my life. I knew something was wrong when I couldn't even walk down the hallway without stopping every foot or so. I felt so bad that I needed to go to the health center and get two IV drips, because I had lost so much water. I was at the health center for at least 5 hours. I came home with lots of medicine, but I still felt horrible the rest of the weekend. Shortly after I got sick so did Gary. We ate a lot of ramen and crackers for awhile. Our friends took Aurora to church so that we could get some much needed rest.

For Mother's Day weekend Gary wanted to take me to Zacatlan a beautiful city on top of a mountain. Before we reached our final destination we took a side trip to Apizaco. We didn't stay long, but it was a nice break to get out of the car and see the city a little.

Here is the Basilica of Santa Maria de la Misericordia. We couldn't go inside, because of the dogs.

Aurora was fascinated by these pigeons we passed by. She wanted to touch them, but we made sure she kept her distance..haha

Here are the pigeons. Apparently she wasn't the only one fascinated by them. :)

Next up is our trip to Zatcatlan!

Month of April

April was a busy month for our family. Not only was it Easter, but we got to celebrate Aurora's 1st birthday!! It was an exciting month. I received a lovely Easter dress in the mail that was a complete surprise to me that my sister Lara made for Aurora! It was super cute!  Below are a couple of pics of the said dress.

This picture was taken outside after Church.
It was super bright outside!

Easter Morning! She loved the Easter basket and all the goodies we gave her. See below for all the spoils.

Finger puppets!!!

Easter Eggs!!! They each had a wind up chicken or bunny inside them.

As you can see she was very excited about her new toys

Every Saturday and Sunday they have these remote controlled boats that people can rent to drive around in the pond at Lincoln Park.

1 year photoshoot in the park!

We were expecting her to really dig into it, but she was so delicate and basically just ate the frosting..lol

This is the best picture I could get since she wasn't cooperating very well.

Just a cute picture of this pumpkin :)

Flower Festival just down the street from where we live.

Chapultepec Botanical Gardens

A big kid area at the botanical garden that had art stations, ball pit, obstacle courses, etc.

Here are some random pictures of things Aurora has been up to lately.

When I wasn't looking she had climbed under the crib to collect these balls!

 Boxes are the best toys!

Making friends at the park and stealing their cars..haha
